Excerpt from this morning's Today Show interview with the cast of Da Vinci:
Lauer: "There have been calls from some religious groups, they wanted a disclaimer at the beginning of this movie saying it is fiction because one of the themes in the book really knocks Christianity right on its ear, if Christ survived the crucifixion, he did not die for our sins and therefore was not resurrected. What I'm saying is, people wanted this to say 'fiction, fiction, fiction'. How would you all have felt if there was a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie? Would it have been okay with you?"
There was a pause, and then famed British actor Ian McKellen [Gandalf of Lord of the Rings], piped up:
"Well, I've often thought the Bible should have a disclaimer in the front saying this is fiction."
Interesting.

Guessing that he had no clue as to what/who Ghandolf represented in LOTR.
If he did know he Gandalf was, he didn't care.
He is very much out of the closet about his gay lifestyle.
I think it's kind of funny a gay guy was used to represent Christ. God has a funny way of using people, even the Godless.
Just shows that God is always in control. The Old Testament (and NT as well) are filled with account of God using ungodly rulers/kings to carry out His will.
That's why He rocks.

Reviewers did have kind words for co-star Ian McKellen, who plays an irreverent Grail enthusiast. Critics said McKellen stole the movie, and the British actor also stole the show at the news conference with his co-stars and Howard, delivering a zinger about the possibility Christ had a wife.
"I'm very happy to believe that Jesus was married," said McKellen, an outspoken defender of gay rights since disclosing his homosexuality in the late 1980s. "And I know the Catholic church has problems with gay people, and I thought this would be absolute proof that Jesus was not gay."
